LINA BAHN
– Violinist, National Gallery of Art New Music Ensemble

Described as “brilliant” and “lyrical” by The Washington Post, Lina Bahn is a highly acclaimed champion of new music, and is established as a versatile performer of many styles. Appointed to the faculty at the University of Colorado in Boulder in 2008, she has taught masterclasses throughout the world, including those at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory in Singapore, the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Hong Kong University, Renmin University in Beijing, the Curtis Institute of Music, among others.  Bahn has been on the faculty of the Sierra Summer Academy of Music since 2001, and is on the faculty of The Institute of the Palazzo Rucellai in Florence, Italy. She was a member of the award-winning Corigliano Quartet, which performed in Alice Tully Hall, Merkin Hall, Bargemusic, Ravinia, Carnegie Hall, and the Library of Congress, and has appeared as soloist with the Chicago Chamber Orchestra and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.  Bahn has appeared in multiple tours with the Takács String Quartet in Carnegie Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Concertgebouw, The Mariinsky Theatre, Strathmore Hall, among others.  She is currently also Executive Director and Violinist of the VERGE ensemble, and Violinist with the National Gallery New Music Ensemble. Lina Bahn received her Doctor of Music degree from Indiana University, her MM from the University of Michigan, and her BM from The Juilliard School, where her teachers included Dorothy DeLay, Paul Kantor, and Miriam Fried.
