STEVE ANTOSCA
Composer, Artistic Director, National Gallery of Art New Music Ensemble

The music of composer Steve Antosca integrates instruments with computers for audio processing and spatialization. His concerts have been described by The Washington Post as “spectacular, wonderfully provocative”. Antosca is Artistic Director of the National Gallery of Art New Music Ensemble, formed in 2010 to present concerts at the intersection of music, art, technology and architecture. He is a co-director of the John Cage Centennial Festival Washington, DC, September 4 - 10, 2012. Commissions and awards include Chamber Music America, a McKim from the Library of Congress, a Fromm from Harvard, Argos Foundation Contemporary Music Fund, and the American Composers Forum, multiple awards from the Maryland State Arts Council , NEA, and the International Music Prize for Excellence in Composition 2011 from the National Academy of Music. Antosca has a Master’s degree in Computer Music Composition from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University. He lives and teaches in the Washington, DC area.
