TAMZIN FERRÉ ELLIOT – Composer, student at Bard College and Conservatory


Tamzin Ferré Elliott, age 19, is from Cardiff by the Sea, a surfer town in northern San Diego. She has just completed her freshman year at Bard College and Conservatory, where she studies Composition in the conservatory under Joan Tower and George Tsontakis, as well as majoring in Written Arts in the college. Throughout high school, she studied with Roger Reynolds, University Professor at University of California, San Diego. Elliott was one of four Los Angeles Philharmonic Composer Fellows for the 2009-2011 program in which she studied composition with James Matheson and A.J. McCaffrey. Elliott has attended the Yellow Barn Summer Music Program for the 2007-2011 seasons, and there studied composition with Stephen Coxe, as well as guest composers Melinda Wagner, Fred Lerdahl, David Ludwig, Steven Mackey, and Chris Theofanidis. As for Elliott’s performance work, she studies flute with Patricia Spencer at Bard and has trained with Karen Reynolds and Sarah Jackson, piccoloist and flutist with the LA Philharmonic. She studies harp with Bridget Kibbey and has studied with Sylvia Ré, harpist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Elliott has been recently awarded the National Foundation for the Advancement in the Arts, YoungArts Top Artist’s 2010 award.
